Celebrating Fourth of July with The Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, Ant Man and Marquette County During the Independence Day Parade!

Law Enforcement lead the way with Marquette, Ishpeming and NMU Police.

Marquette, MI  –  July 4, 2018  –  After wrapping up in Ishpeming, the Great Lakes Radio crew headed to Marquette for parade number two. It was a hot day in Marquette was crowds lined Washington Street for the annual 4th of July Parade, but the heat wasn’t stopping anyone from having a good time.

The parade kicked off with a mix of local law enforcement including the Marquette Police, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, NMU, & Ishpeming Police. Shortly after followed one of the Marquette parade’s most memorable moments. A Jeep rolled by with the Marquette Parade Marshall, Robert E. Moore,  a World War II Veteran. People on both sides of the street rose from their seats, cheered and clapped in appreciation as the car and it’s special occupant when by.

During the Marquette Parade, our Great Lakes Radio team was joined by more than 30 Marquette Senior High School athletes to promote Marquette sports on Fox Sports Marquette. The students athletes surrounded our our Silverado Summer Giveaway grand prize, the 2018 Chevy Silverado from Frei Chevrolet! Driven by Bill Tibor, Fox Sports’ Luke Ghiardi stood in the bed of the truck to hand out candy and wave to the crowd. 103-FXD’s Adam Carpenter followed in the side-by-side with Mark Evans and Mike Plourde was in the rear with the Sunny.FM Flex while his former counter part, Sunny.FM’s Walt Lindala was down at Food Fest setting up with The Flat Broke Blues Band!

There were lots of new floats in this year’s parade including Marquette’s local Haunted Hayride, celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary. The Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, and the world famous Ant Man also made special appearances during the parade! New Attitudes Dance Team gave a colorful performance Canale Tonella Funeral Home blew everyone away with their gorgeous horses and unique funeral coach procession.

There is live music in the Harbor and vendor food vendors until 10:00pm tonight after which fireworks will start over the historical ore dock in the harbor.
